At Cairo University, the journey toward Egypt’s vaccine self-sufficiency began

VBC Vaccines and Biotechnology City, in collaboration with MEVAC for Vaccines, took a major step toward advancing Egypt’s role in vaccine innovation during a scientific conference titled:
“Localizing Vaccine Manufacturing in Egypt: A Strategic Step to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance from a One Health Perspective.”
Dr. Magdy El-Sayed – CEO of VBC and Chairman of MEVAC – announced his commitment to transforming Egypt into a leading regional hub for vaccine innovation, while opening doors for training and research opportunities for students and young scientists.
– Conference Leadership
The conference was led by Prof. Ahmed Samir, Head of the Microbiology Department, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Cairo University, under the patronage of:
● Prof. Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadek, President of Cairo University.
● Prof. Iman Bakr Mohamed, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

The event hosted leading international experts, including:
● Dr. Nima Said Abid and Dr. Yara Khalaf, World Health Organization (WHO) – Egypt.
● Dr. Jacquelyne Pinat, FAO Assistant Regional Director for North Africa.
● Dr. Samah Ali, AMR Officer, FAO Egypt.
● Dr. Abdel Rahman Belal, General Director of One Health, Ministry of Health and Population.
